New Orleans Saints tabte en tæt kamp mod favoritterne fra Carolina Panthers. Saints var ellers tæt på at lave overraskelsen, men fem touchdowns fra Cam Newton var for meget for Saints.
Drew Brees var tilbage i vanlig form og kastede for 282 yards og 3 touchdowns. Men uheldigvis kastede Brees også én interception.
Rookie linebacker Stephone Anthony spillede en god kamp. Han blev den spiller som returnerede det første blokrede extra point for 2 point i NFL historien. Der ud over returnerede Anthony også en fumble for et touchdown. Anthony lavede 4 solo taklinger og 6 assists.
Delvin Breaux lavede hans anden interception i karrieren og Cameron Jordan lavede hans 8 sack for sæsonen.

Analysis: The Saints are having trouble stopping teams through the air, and even though third-round cornerback P.J. Williams is on the injured reserve, they should continue to look for talent at that position. As the Saints’ transition from their high-flying offensive days under Drew Brees to a more run-oriented approach, they might look for a jackhammer at the guard spot who can blow holes open for Mark Ingram. The Saints will need to find a wide receiver with length to help them challenge defenses on the perimeter. If the Saints can find a quality pass rusher who can consistently threaten off the edge, that will go a long way in helping their secondary as well.
